Intuitive appoints new Vice President and General Manager in India

Intuitive (NASDAQ: ISRG), a global technology leader in minimally invasive care and the pioneer of robotic-assisted surgery, today announced its appointment of Rohitt Mahajan as Vice President and General Manager for India. Mahajan will lead the company's business strategy and operations.

Mahajan brings more than 17 years of diverse experience in sales, marketing, strategy, and operations in the healthcare, consumer durables, and IT sectors. Since joining Intuitive in 2018, he has held key leadership roles, including area sales director for India and director of commercial operations for Asia, where he contributed to the expansion of Intuitive’s commercial operations capabilities and range of global offerings across India and broader Asia region including China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Intuitive began direct operations in India in 2018 and has focused on advancing minimally invasive care across the country through the adoption of its robotic-assisted surgical systems. Intuitive technology can be found in leading private and government hospitals, medical institutes, and state government medical colleges across the country. The company has invested US $6 million to establish four training centres across India, including at AIIMS New Delhi. Today, there are more than 180 da Vinci surgical programs across India, with more than 1 lakh procedures performed by more than 850 da Vinci trained surgeons.
To support its expanding operations, Intuitive recently opened a global capability centre (GCC) in Bengaluru. The centre is one of Intuitive’s core global hubs for functions including IT support, enterprise analytics, software quality, human resource management system and post-market surveillance.

About da Vinci Surgical Systems
There are several models of the da Vinci Surgical System. The da Vinci surgical systems are designed to help surgeons perform minimally invasive surgery and offer surgeons high-definition 3D vision, a magnified view, and robotic and computer assistance. They use specialised instrumentation, including a miniaturised surgical camera and wristed instruments (i.e., scissors, scalpels, and forceps) that are designed to help with precise dissection and reconstruction deep inside the body.
